As a kid and then continuing into adulthood, I wanted to do something with my life that would be meaningful not only to myself, but to others. This partially came about as I watched one of my grandparents suffer with mental illness, and the love and care my mother gave her. My mom had been raised in a poor family and her compassion and help for others was so amazing it made a significant impact on me. My dad would give you the shirt off his back and help anyone who needed it. I wanted to emulate my mom and dad; they were a great influence on my passion to assist others.

After trying to make every job I had meet my goal of serving others, I found the only way to actually do what I wanted required education and the commitment to spend long hours of study. I was able to fulfill this dream, first by gaining a Masters in Social Work and becoming fully licensed. I had internships at a nursing home and then with a neuroscience department working with diverse patients and their families. After that, I worked in a community mental health agency and then with a disability advocate non-profit agency. My last job was working as a medical social worker, going to people’s homes and assisting them with resources. I saw a greater need, however. People were not only hurting physically, but emotionally. They needed someone to listen to how they were feeling, provide genuine concern, and offer ways of coping.

That was it! I now knew what I wanted to do when I grew up! So here I am at Reclaim Life Therapy, PLLC as a mental health therapist with Christ at the center of it all. It’s a place where you will feel warm and welcome, along with a safe place to explore your emotions and learn how to cope when things are not going well.  I am thankful to have the opportunity to serve a variety of adult clients and hope that you will consider becoming a client too!
